More than a moment.

Before the film ambitions and the photo archive, Rennix “Ren” Leo was making records in New Orleans.

Recording as Big Ren, he released music on Corrupt Inmate Records. His 2002 album That Streets Won’t Let Me Go credits him in writing, production, and executive production. Those are his own documented music credits — not credits borrowed from the artists pictured beside him.

He carried that independent spirit into Mirror Vision Entertainment. A 2011 announcement identified Leo as a producer attached to the proposed film The Trail; today, his professional profile lists him as the company’s CEO in Atlanta. The story keeps moving across music and film.

Smoke is one half of the Georgia rap duo Field Mob, who broke through on MCA Records and later signed to Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace. The group is best known for the hits "Sick of Being Lonely" and "So What," the latter featuring Ciara. Their run helped define the melodic, country-rap side of Southern hip-hop in the 2000s.
